Brandis Haugabrook is the Outreach and Engagement Manager at Hope Chicago, a

multi-generational non-profit organization providing debt-free postsecondary pathways and

completion support to Chicago Public Schools graduates and their parents.

At Hope Chicago, Brandis leads the implementation of policy and advocacy strategy,

orchestrates internal and external coordination necessary for implementing Hope’s Summer

Internship and Mentorship program, collaborates with key corporate partners to create and

execute engagement strategies, and supports outreach and engagement efforts with Hope

Parents and Hope Parent Scholars. Prior to joining the Hope team, she served as a primary

special educator on the West Side of Chicago, designing and implementing differentiated

foundational instruction and facilitating small group instruction in Spanish for English

Language Learners.

Brandis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Economics from Spelman

College, where she also served as a Human Rights Fellow in former Atlanta Mayor Keisha

Lance Bottoms’ Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, assisting in the planning and

execution of citywide resiliency efforts. Her undergraduate experience ignited her passion

for equitable access to resources that bolster student learning and success. As a

2020-2022 Teach for America corps member in the Chicago-Northwest Indiana region, she

furthered her commitment to education while earning her Master of Arts in Teaching from

Relay Graduate School of Education. She was also an inaugural cohort member of the

Leaders of Color for Systems Change Fellowship.

Brandis is an ardent champion of educational equity, student advocacy, and community

engagement in all aspects of her life. She is a dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha

Sorority Incorporated, the Chicago Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman

College, and the Chicago Urban League Metropolitan Board. Originally from Framingham,

Massachusetts, Brandis now proudly calls Chicago home and lives on the Southside with her

daughter.
